paintings

Lately, I have been making paintings that are about patterns and movement, and this was an idea I had to make the same pattern reappear on the people and in the background. I obviously love bright colors and I try to use them to emphasize people's interaction, while painting patterns to give them energy. Though this one is rather small (16" x 20"), I have been painting large ( 3' x 4'), and have really loved it; I think it is so much more fun and easier to capture movement on big canvases.

  3. Your use of pattern is interesting as it flows from the couch to the clothing and throughout the picture. I would like to see you explore it more.

  4. I like that you used the warm colours, this make me feel more strongful of human interactions :) The used of patterns reminds me Henri Matisse style(fauvism). You did crop well and composition is looking good!

  5. Nancy, I have learned a lot from your use of the figure, patters, movements, and the way you put your paintings together like puzzle pieces. It is exiting how you see the world and the people around you and how your work is so unique to you. I could spot your work out of a million paintings and that is brilliant!

  6. The pink and green color scheme of your blog is burning holes in my retinas lol. Anyway, I like the warm colors in your painting. It conveys a very "comfy" feeling upon looking at it. If I had to make any suggestions, I'd say to try adding more contrast... Shadows, cooler colors... it'd make your figures stand out more. :)
